I’m a lover of all things clay…
Growing up in the 70’s and 80’s my mum had an appreciation of handmade pottery, which filled our kitchen cupboards. I always loved drinking from one particular mug, my hand feeling the soft silky texture whilst cupping the belly of the mug and the handle just right. It felt balanced, light and perfectly poised to drink from. I still to this day covet a favourite mug that I prefer no one else use.
After a long held desire to create my own ceramics I began my journey with established local potter, Lucy Vanstone in Brunswick Heads in 2004. What started as weekly wheel throwing classes soon morphed into working for her while continuing to develop my own skills and learn as much as I could about clay, glazing and studio life.
In 2016 after my kids abandoned their teenage den, our shed, I took the opportunity to set up my own home studio in Mullumbimby. From here I continue to create and develop my own practice and foster my passion for clay. For me it’s about the tactile experience of pottery and the love of making beautiful pieces to be touched, held and used daily.
I’m in my happy place.
